follows:- "those contained in sections 142, 143, 144 (except sub-section (9)), 147, 148, 149, 150, 151, 152,

153, 154, 155, 156, 157, 168 and 170".

Clause 246(1)(iv)(b), line 5. The word "of" has

been omitted after the word "institution".

Clause 253. I am to point out that the effect of

this clause is to enable foreign companies, as well as companies registered in other parts of the British Do-

minions, to hold land in HongKong without the require-

ment of any licence. For example, - a company formed in Japan for the purpose of buying up land in HongKong could buy and hold land in HongKong without any control

by the Governor. In this country a company registered outside the British Empire can only hold land with the

licence of the Crown.

Clause 261. I am to draw your attention to the ad- dition which is proposed to the definition of the word "director". This addition if adopted will, of course, change the scope of every section in which the word "di-

rector" occurs.
